Writing Challenge – Round 2 – Day 1 – First Meal

The group decided with the January writing challenge. Originally, we were to start Monday as it would give people chance to prepare for their topics. I might play catchup and write a few today and tomorrow so I’m on challenge 7 on Monday Jan 7. Makes it easier to track the date to the challenge #. But you could just start at challenge 7 on Monday and just roll over and do challenge 1 on Feb 1.

For me using a blog format I’ve just been writing what I think or feel. No prep. The structure could be different and have a sequential flow to allow for a logical read, rather than some of random emotional up and down rants and ramblings. I’m writing my emotions about my life. And my life has ups and downs every day and sometimes every hour. So, here goes with the first of many posts to complete my second attempt of a 30-day writing challenge.

Challenge Topic 1

What was your first meal of the day?

  • 2 eggs soft poached
  • 2 slices dry rye toast
  • Home fries (potato cubes)
  • 3 slices of beacon
  • 2 cups tea
  • 1 slice french toast

We went out for breakfast. It was delicious and hit the spot. Plus I didn’t have to cook or clean up after!

Having to cook and clean for all the peoples is such a chore. I made a big breakfast at Christmas.

  • Pancakes – plain and blackberry
  • Cheesy scrambled eggs
  • Slices of polish sausage
  • Beans
  • Banana and mango smoothie

This is after waiting to open the gifts (see post about that here). Washing up dishes, cutlery, cups, bowls, pots and pans must be done. All part of adulting.

The hubby went upstairs and ended up sleeping the rest of the day into the evening. We left him to sleep not knowing if he would be joining us to celebrate with my family. I had to do multiple trips to pack the car with of food, games, presents and baby.

But, I digress. My first meal on January 1st, 2019 was a 2-egg special made to order at one of our usual breakfast joints. I liked that its not crazy cramped inside and it wasnt too busy that my walking baby was smiled at. The food was fresh, hot, served with a friendly smile, affordable and I didn’t have to clean up. Pretty great first meal to start the year.
