How to Mend a Broken Heart?

I love him.  We were to have a future to build together.  The familiar laughs, hugs, and happiness that I only had with him.  I don’t let everyone see that side of me.  The side that is romantic, soft, and caring.  But, to him, I was all of that and more.  In his eyes I was strong, funny, sexy, intelligent, giving, caring, loving, affectionate, dainty, and vulnerable.  I am all those things.  But, only he got to see it.  Everyone else just gets a portion of it.  They see me as strong, take no b.s., ass-kicker, ghetto jokester.  Cry?!  I don’t cry.  I am too emotionless to wade down in the waters of the weak and weepy.  I am the stone that doesn’t break.  But, with each piercing truth of reality, my tears have broken my rock into small particles of sediment.

I know the devastation of a breakup can change you.  You gave a piece of your heart and soul to them and you will never get it back.  But, don’t focus on the could-have-beens, what-ifs, or if there was someone else.  It will only hold you back from moving forward with the better life that awaits your discovery.  You will heal.  For each person, the journey to find yourself again is different.

For me, writing it down helps rid those weights that hold you down.  One by one, your words will no longer repeat over and over again in your head.  The same words that bring tears to your eyes.  I love listening to empowering music.  Sure, listening to slow jams to mirror your mood might be what you feel to listen to, but try listening to slow jams that will help you up, instead of keep you down.

Go out with your friends.  Make out with a random dude.  Go shopping.  Exercise.  Looking and living fabulous will be the best revenge.  Look at me now SUCKA!

  1. I don’t think I have gotten over my broken heart from my first “love” to this day it still makes me sad…. but maybe it was the way it ended.. really no closure… but I can tell you one thing. That broken heart made me the strong, independent, no non sense kinda gal now….But I must say, the love i feel now for my husband is stronger than the one of my first love.

  2. “The bad things in life open your eyes to the good things you weren’t paying attention”….sums it all!

  3. I talk about it to a very close friend. Listen to ‘I am survivor’ (Beyonce) and Gloria’s I will survive. Also like ‘bye bye bye’ from NSync.. stuff like that..
